ProKera®

ProKera® Insertion And Removal
We are pleased to let you know our practice now offers PROKERA®, a new treatment for chronic Dry Eye. PROKERA® is a biologic corneal bandage/medical device used by eye doctors around the world to treat eye diseases such as keratitis, recurrent corneal erosions, dry eye syndrome and chemical burns. This unique treatment is safe and effective, and it is comprised of cryopreserved amniotic membrane tissue in a thermoplastic ring set. Amniotic tissue is proven to have natural therapeutic actions to help damaged eye surfaces heal faster.

As many of you suffering from Dry Eye know, it causes discomfort and redness on the surface of the eye, which can lead to blurred vision and affect your daily activities. For mild cases, eye drops or lid wipes may alleviate symptoms; however, as Dry Eye becomes worse, everyday tasks such as reading and driving can become difficult. You may also be more at risk for eye infections and scarring of your cornea, which is the surface of your eye.

PROKERA is a natural treatment that heals your eye faster, alleviates discomfort and other symptoms caused by Dry Eye, and returns your eye to a normal, healthy state. It’s similar to a contact lens and is easily inserted and removed in our office. Once removed after a few days you will see and feel better. PROKERA is the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared therapeutic device that both reduces inflammation and promotes healing, and clinical studies have shown it helps soothe pain, heal the eye, and improve vision.

If you or a member of your family are experiencing symptoms of Dry Eye such as redness, itchy and watery eyes, stinging or pain, or blurred vision, PROKERA may be the right treatment for you. For more information, call our office at 304-342-5900 or email us at gvc2020@suddenlinkmail.com.
